CASE STUDY

Client: Fast Growing Internet Business

Problem: Specialist bookkeeping requirements due to import and export inside and outside EU, plus a large number of different Internet based income sources. They had employed a few different bookkeepers who had all claimed expertise and knowledge in this field, and failed to deliver.

Shortcomings: Overpayment of VAT, no Management Reports, Overpayment to Suppliers, no monthly reconciliation.

Solution: We sent our expert in this field to visit the client at their offices for 2 days. We assessed the problems and shortcomings and tailored a solution that suited both SHBC and the client. This allowed the client to still have ultimate control, but passed all of the clerical duties to SHBC. The following was agreed:

• SHBC Bookkeeping staff will deal with all imports and exports clerical duties
• Quarterly VAT Returns
• Communicate with all suppliers and customer in relation to accounts issues
• Prepare weekly BACS payment lists
• Weekly reconciliation of bank accounts
• Preparation of monthly Management Accounts
• A fixed monthly fee was agreed (at a lower overall cost)
